How I wear Pull by Esska

Inspired by the architectural design of Esska shoes–full of crossings and intersections–I put together an outfit that’s full of stripes, stripes, and more stripes. Yes, it’s okay to pile on the stripes to create a look that will leave your date dizzy and wanting more. Add a splash of color in the mix, as I did with the orange belt, for a an extra bolt of visual excitement.

Meet the Brands: Esska

If you are looking for a pair of shoes with lines that are very pure, clean, and unique in style, then you should check out Esska. Esska’s originality stems from the fact that Souraya Karami, the brand’s founder and designer from London, originally trained and worked as an architect before deciding that her future lay in shoes. Souraya decided to use her architectural skills to make shoes that are feminine, comfortable, and not over designed which translates into clean lines, dominant shapes, organic silhouettes and bold colors.

It was Souraya’s passion for shoes and, in her words, “a distinct lack of footwear that is designed for confident women who place equal value on comfort and beauty” that led her to develop Esska.

“I believe in inner beauty and the concept of feeling good” says Souraya, “it’s the harmony with oneself that makes one look good.”

Look good in a pair of Esskas that we have available now:

Meet the Brands: Miz Mooz

Way back to our humble beginnings as a fledging concept, we made a list of brands that we would like to carry in our shoe store. We didn’t know where in town we would be, or who exactly our customer would end up being, but we did know one thing, and that Miz Mooz was at the top of our must-carry brands list.

From its humble beginnings as a small private label based out of NYC, Miz Mooz has always remained committed to the principle that fashion and comfort can happily coexist—the very theory we built Stella Says Go upon.

Miz Mooz believes that shoes are a reflection of the people who wear them—eclectic, edgy, playful, quirky, and fun! Does that sound like someone you know? If so, check out some of the Miz Mooz styles we have in store for you:

We have more styles in-store, so if you are in the Austin area, come on by and check them out!

Shoe Love: St. Honore by Art

Imagine a day spent sightseeing as you walk along the Champs-Elysées towards the Arc de Triomphe and on to the Tuileries. You stop at a cafe and sip coffee while you watch the people go by… and in the early evening, after spending a few hours at the Louvre, you wander past the perfect little brasserie and grab an informal meal before heading to the Eiffel Tower for a twilight ride to the top.

That’s how St. Honore by Art shoes makes us feel… like we are ready to spend a beautiful spring day in Paris. This shoe is built with both style and comfort in mind. Starting with the cushioned leather insole and the shock-absorbing recycled cork and rubber outsole, this is a shoe that is built to cushion your feet as you are walking and keep you moving all day. Art’s special insole technology means that the sole will mold itself to your foot as you wear it. But we also love the graduated shades of red that make the shoe remarkably versatile and wearable with shades from neutrals like khaki and brown to colorful florals. Feminine without being girlie, the St. Honore is graceful on the foot. The mid-height heel elongates the leg and the straps accentuate the ankle in a subtle way. The style is a thoughtful take on a classic, using color and silhouette for an updated vibe.

Try the St. Honore with skinny jeans, a boat-neck black and white striped tee, and a boyfriend blazer for the perfect Austin take on French style.

Meet the Press: The Sam Edelman Yelena is a Must Have

Have you tried on the darling Yelena by Sam Edelman? This shoe has been getting all sorts of local love, first from the gals at Austin Tidbits, and then from the Must List in Austin Woman Magazine. I can’t say that we’re surprised, as this shoe is all kinds of cute, from the pop of color to the sleek minimal design.

We noticed that it graced the pages of Lucky magazine this month, too. So cute! Available at the Austin, TX store, and online.

How I Wear: Menorca by Art

Inspired by a trip to the seaside

As temperatures climb here in Austin, I find my thoughts turning more and more to vacations spent at the beach. My husband’s family has planned a reunion this summer at the beach town of Wilmington, North Carolina, and I’m looking forward to lazy days on the beach and relaxing evenings spent with family. I’m also looking forward to doing some site-seeing, and taking advantage of grandparents nearby to escape for a few hours of quiet exploring sans children.

I’m going to be sure to take the adorable Menorca wedge with me. Made in Spain, this shoe has so much about it that I love, starting with with the hand-painted wooden wedge and fun blue color. The recycled cork and rubber sole is also a plus, keeping the shoe both comfy and environmentally friendly. This shoe has a European sensibility ala Camper, but is a little rougher, dare I say more original?

I’ll be pairing it with an easy summer dress in a fun print. I love this one from Modcloth, although it’s not yet available. But they have lots of other choices. I’m also planning on bringing along some simple, feminine accessories, like those shown from Baked Beads and Bauxo. And what trip to the beach would be complete without a straw hat? We have so many to choose from at the shop, but this one, by our favorite hat maker, San Diego Hat Company, has a really cute, feminine flair. I love film photography, and no trip for me would be complete without my trusty Polaroid camera (yes, you can still get film! ) Throw it all in a beach bag, and I’m ready for my day in town!

Dress: Modcloth, $244.99 (not yet available); More affordable option: Modcloth, $67.99
Sunglasses: AJ Morgan: Stella Says Go, $15.00
Jewelry: Bauxo; available in-store at Stella Says Go, $28.00, and necklace from Baked Beads, also available in-store at Stella Says Go, $22
Shoes: StellaSaysGo.com, $210

Shoe Love: Shellys London Spring

With shoes so cute, we found that we couldn’t choose just one for our Shoe Love post this week. So, here’s our entire Shellys London collection (from left to right: Rocker, Konichiwa, Shortcake, and Chopstick).

So, so cute! It’s a challenge to pick just one… Rocker, a 40s-inspired oxford featuring a peep-toe and adorable chrysanthemum print, or Konichiwa, with bright happy red straps and a floral insole on an easy platform. Or what about Shortcake? The wear-with-anything grey and sculptured clog bottom are a sure hit, or what about the graphic black-and-white cuteness of  Chopstick?  These shoes are easy to wear, totally accessible style, and any of these is guaranteed to add a dose of fun to spring and summer wardrobes.

Meet the Brand: Shellys London

Are you looking for something truly special that you can’t find anywhere else in Texas, and probably not in the entire United States? Then check out Shellys London.

Shellys may be a new kid on the block around these parts, but across the pond, Shellys has been making splashes in the fashion world since the 1950s. The brand started out as just a couple of stores in London. Shellys first caught the eye and interest of the public when they supplied shoes for The Jam (Paul Weller’s first band) on their first major tour.

The success that followed prompted more store openings, and then in 1988, a well-known London stylist featured Shellys in a major photoshoot in British Elle. Suddenly, Shellys was the hippest shoe store in town with tie-ins with hot 80s designers such as Katherine Hamnett and John Richmond.

Today, Shellys focuses on listening to the customer to supply them with what they want. And, as can be seen from the fun, fresh, and affordable styles that make up the line, the Shellys customer wants good quality, ‘must have’ styles for a fair price. Check out what styles we have in-store today:
